The Cozad FFA Chapter made history at the 98th Annual Nebraska State Convention, as its floriculture team captured a state championship title and secured a spot in the national competition for the first time in program history.
The Cozad Area Chamber of Commerce and Cozad Development Corporation held a joint annual meeting on March 19 at the Cozad Elks Club, where organization and community members gathered to recognize local impact, review the past year and look ahead to future growth.
The March Haymaker Highlight recognized pre-kindergarten special education teacher Karsyn Dugan during the CCS Board of Education’s regular meeting on March 16. Dugan is the birth-to-age-five program coordinator. She explained the Early Development Network (EDN), which is free to families. “EDN includes health checks, premature births, CASA, foster care, and home visits. It’s a Nebraska thing,” Dugan said.
A public hearing on a tower permit request from The Towers, LLC, was held during the March 16 Cozad City Council meeting. The request was to install a wireless communication tower in the Southeast Quarter of Section 31, Township 11 North, Range 23 West in Dawson County, Nebraska. The tower will be built on property owned by Smoke and Deb Cornelius.

On Feb. 25, 1926, Willard and Cleo Mintling celebrated the arrival of twin girls - Wilma Irene and Wanda Ilene. On Feb. 25, the twins came together with their families at Hilltop Estates in Gothenburg to celebrate their 100th birthdays. They had not seen each other in three years, making the celebration even sweeter.
