The Summer Movie Series at the FOX Theater in Cozad began on Wednesday, June 3, with "A Minecraft Movie".
The 2 p.m. movie matinees feature a $2 admission fee, with the remainder of the admission cost paid through the generosity of Waypoint Bank, Homestead Bank, and Security First Bank. The movies are shown in Theater 2 (Claude Berreckman Sr.) and Theater 3 (Cozad Telephone Company). 

Wilson Public Library has a full lineup of activities planned throughout June, offering educational programs, crafts, entertainment and family fun for all ages.

The annual Flag Day ceremony at the Elks Lodge featured a special contribution from local Cub Scouts, who helped present eight historic American flags as part of the program.
The ceremony highlighted the evolution of the nation’s flag, tracing the history of the United States. As each flag was carried and displayed, the Scouts represented an important connection between past and present.

The Cozad VFW is seeking community volunteers to help place American flags in honor of Independence Day. 
Volunteers are invited to assist with putting out flags at the VFW and throughout portions of Memorial Park on Friday, July 3, at 9 a.m. Additional help is also needed to collect the flags on Sunday, July 5, at 5 p.m. 

Area seniors will have an opportunity to receive coupons for fresh, locally grown produce through the Nebraska Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) during a distribution event scheduled for Monday, June 15, at the Cozad Grand Generation Center.

Every year on June 14, Americans observe Flag Day, a holiday dedicated to honoring one of the nation's most recognizable symbols, the Stars and Stripes. While it is not a federal holiday that closes government offices or businesses, Flag Day serves as an important reminder of the history, values, and unity represented by the American flag.

A dedicated group of volunteers spent hours on Wednesday, June 3, working to improve the appearance of the Tennico property in Cozad. 
While ongoing restrictions at the site continue to prevent the larger-scale improvements many residents would like to see, the Cozad Development Corporation continues to be committed to finding a long-term solution. In the meantime, they volunteered their focused on what can be done. 

June is recognized as PTSD Awareness Month, a time dedicated to increasing public understanding of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and supporting those affected by it. The observance serves as a reminder that PTSD is a real and often misunderstood condition that impacts millions of people each year. By raising awareness, communities can help reduce stigma and encourage those struggling to seek the support they need

A life of adventure brought Kathi from Germany and Maciek from Poland to the humble community of Cozad, along with their three daughters.

The Cozad Chamber of Commerce welcomed car enthusiasts and community members to downtown Cozad on June 6 for its annual Blacktop Classic Car Show, which featured more than 90 vehicles. 

The music echoed across the grounds. Auctioneers worked the crowd. Cancer survivors walked the runway. Friends embraced, families reunited, and thousands of people gathered in a pasture north of Cozad for a common purpose. 

Two hundred and fifty years ago, a group of colonists did something that many people thought was impossible.
They challenged the most powerful empire in the world.
They argued, debated, protested, and eventually fought for the right to govern themselves. On July 4, 1776, representatives from the thirteen colonies approved the Declaration of Independence, announcing to the world that they were no longer subjects of the British Crown.

Nebraska Extension will host its annual Summer Stocker/Yearling Tour on June 23 near Broken Bow, offering cattle producers an opportunity to learn from Nebraska operations managing through ongoing drought conditions and explore current research and management strategies for stocker and yearling systems.

The Cozad Grand Generation Center has several June events and activities planned for area seniors and community members.

The Robert Henri Museum and Art Gallery is pleased to announce that Karrie Steely, from Hendley, will be its Artist in Residence from June 10 through June 24, 2026. Her work will be on display at the museum, with many pieces available for purchase.
