Area pool players received recognition for winning the Fall Session of the American Poolplayers Association 8-Ball and 9-Ball leagues. 
In Tuesday 8-Ball play, “211 Shooters” and “Bar W’s Best,” both based out of Bar W in Gothenburg, claimed titles. Team members of “211 Shooters” include Jeremy Feddersen, Junior Magana, Lance Bodfield, Matt Troy, John Bodfield, Dalcy Bodfield, Jake Barkmeier, and Jeremy Pearson.

Cozad Grand Generation Center Director Tamie Thurn appeared before the Cozad City Council the Monday, April 6 to provide an update on the status of the community center. 
“I feel like we are sinking like the Titanic without the good-looking guy onboard,” Thurn stated.  

Steve Pearson, a 1966 graduate of Cozad High School, has co-authored a crime and suspense novella set in the Cozad area during the 1980s.

A Cozad family says hope returned after a living donor liver transplant changed the course of Kyle Rimpley’s life. Following a medical journey that stretched from local hospitals to the care of the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, and into the national transplant system through UNOS. 

City leaders emphasized that no local tax dollars have been used for construction of the new sports complex. The estimated $5 million project has been funded through donations, grants, and community fundraising efforts.  

Discussion was held on the Cozad Sports Complex land note at the March 31 special meeting for the City Council and the Board of Public Works.

The program serves children ages 3-5 and has operated in Cozad for more than 20 years. Each year, it offers 16 enrollment spots for local families. 

As communities observe Week of the Young Child (April 11–17), Cozad Child Care continues its long-standing role in supporting local families and early childhood education. 
The center has served Cozad families for 37 years, including 34 years in its current location. It provides care for children ages 6 weeks through 8 years, covering key early development stages. 

As Week of the Young Child highlights early education, Learning Adventures Child Care Center–Cozad LLC continues to show how care and learning work together for local families.

As the community recognizes Week of the Young Child, Cozad United Methodist Church Little Disciples Preschool continues to shape early learning through relationships, routine, and hands-on experiences. 
Now in its ninth year, the preschool serves children ages 3-5 and offers both full day and half day programs. The full day class currently holds a waiting list, while a few openings remain for the 2026–27 half day session. 

Cozad City Mayor Marcus Kloepping often receives thoughtful requests that he is more than happy to fulfill and last week was no different. Taking time on Good Friday, he proudly proclaimed April 11–17 as the Week of the Young Child, and further announced this during the town hall meeting of the city council.  

State wrestling champion Drake Hasbrouck signed his letter of intent to wrestle for the Bulldogs at Concordia University, Nebraska on April 1, where he plans to major in accounting. Joining Hasbrouck for the signing were, from left, his brother Chase, his mother Candi, and his grandfather Duane Mercer.

Who hasn't tapped fingers on a desk with anxiety or shook a leg under a table awaiting some sort of news? These motor impulses may seem involuntary, but they largely are under the control of the individual. For a portion of the population, fidgeting and tremors are out of their control, and are  hallmarks of a movement disorder called Parkinson's disease.
