The Cozad Classics White 18U softball team continued its strong summer season over the weekend, posting a 2-1-1 record while improving to 22-8-1 overall.
The Cozad Swim Team hosted Elm Creek, Perkins County, McCook, Frontier County, Gothenburg, and Indianola on June 27. The following results are courtesy of Plains tSunami. The Cozad swim team traveled to Perkins County on Saturday, June 20, to compete against teams from Perkins County, Holyoke, Imperial, and Sterling. Cozad swimmers turned in a strong day of performances, collecting numerous individual and relay victories across multiple age divisions while continuing to build momentum midway through the summer season.
The Cozad Plains tSunami welcomed Elwood, Gothenburg and Wilcox-Hildreth to the Cozad Community Pool on Saturday, June 13, for their home invitational. While swimmers competed in the pool, Cozad FCCLA members served breakfast burritos, rolls and fruit at the concession stand as part of their fundraising efforts for the upcoming National Leadership Conference.
Baseball season got underway for the Cozad Reds Senior 18U team, coached by Tysen Werner, Nick Smith and Darrick Arndt. Team members include Ashton Osborn, JP Schneider, Owen Ross, Ethan Atchison, Chayden Hoffmaster, Mathew Arndt, Braedon Groteluschen, Alec Osborn, Tanner Barnes, JD Buhring, Ryder Armagost, Austin Feik, Krasen Smith and Brayden Barber.

Swimmers turned in strong performances throughout the day, earning numerous top finishes, personal bests, and relay victories. The Cozad boys golf team wrapped up its season this week at the NSAA Class C State Golf Championships at Indianhead Golf Club, facing two completely different days on the course. Wednesday, May 27, brought ideal scoring conditions with sunshine and calm weather, while Thursday’s final round featured cloudy skies and periods of rain that made the course far more challenging.
Cozad athletes closed out the 2026 NSAA State Track and Field Championships at Omaha Burke Stadium with several standout performances, highlighted by a pair of state runner-up finishes and a new school-record jump from senior Chayden Hoffmaster.
Cozad High School senior standout basketball player Olliver Davis signed his Letter of Intent to play basketball for the Hastings College Broncos on May 6. Davis will be majoring in accounting and business. He chose Hastings College for his collegiate basketball career because of their tradition of excellence in academics and athletics. His dad and mom met at Hastings College where Brian played basketball and Aimee played volleyball.
The Cozad Haymakers battled through a competitive field at the Southwest Conference Golf Tournament on May 7 in Broken Bow, finishing fifth overall, Cozad finished the day with a team score of 345, with McCook claiming the team championship.
The Haymakers capped off a demanding and tightly packed week with another huge performance Friday at Broken Bow, finishing second in a competitive field. Cozad posted a team score of 335, coming up just two strokes shy of first-place Holdrege, who finished at 333.
Cozad turned in a strong showing Thursday, April 16, at the Gothenburg Dutch Zorn Invite, placing 4th as clear skies and a light breeze set the stage for a full day of competition.
Cozad boys golf split its week between junior varsity and varsity competition, with the JV squad competing Monday, April 13 in Minden and the varsity traveling Tuesday, April 14 to Johnson Lake near Lexington.
Cozad’s girls track and field team competed Thursday, April 16, at the Gothenburg Dutch Zorn Invite, using a sunny day to build experience and add several personal-best performances. Whitney Regelin led the sprinters with a 7th-place finish in the 100m in 13.33 and added a 5th-place finish in the 200m in 27.87. She also ran 27.38 in the 200 prelims to qualify for finals.
