Pool League Champions Crowned

Local pool players from across the area were recently recognized for their success during the Spring Session of the American Poolplayers Association (APA) 8-Ball and 9-Ball Pool Leagues, with a Cozad team among those earning championship honors.

The Cozad Haymakers girls golf team came away with a first-place finish Thursday, Aug. 27, at the Kearney Catholic meet, edging Hastings for the team title. 
Cozad finished the day with a team score of 388, 100-over par. Hastings followed closely in second place with a 392, 104-over par. 

Lady Makers Serve Up 14 Aces and Slam 30 Kills Against Swedes

The Cozad Haymakers battled the Gothenburg Swedes through four sets before falling 3-1 on the road on Thursday, Aug. 27.

Legion Reds' Post 77 Season Ends at Area 6 Tournament

The Cozad Reds opened postseason play at the 2026 American Legion Seniors Area 6 Tournament on July 24, falling to Wood River before being eliminated by Minden on July 26. The seven-team tournament featured Cozad, Aurora, Holdrege, McCook, Minden, Overton, and Wood River.

The Cozad Reds Senior Legion 18U Post 77 baseball team came up short in a pair of games last week, falling 3-0 to MNB Senior on Wednesday July 8 before dropping a 15-6 decision to Centura Seniors on Friday July 10. 
Despite the losses, Cozad saw strong individual performances both on the mound and at the plate. 

Cozad Earns Multiple Titles at Plains tSunami Championships

The Cozad Swim Team wrapped up its summer season with an impressive showing at the Plains tSunami Championship Meet on Saturday, July 11, in Lexington. Competing against 35 other teams from across the region, Cozad swimmers collected multiple individual and relay championships while adding numerous top-three finishes throughout the meet, showcasing the depth and talent of the program.

Cozad Classics White Goes 3-0 at Stampede Tournament

The Cozad Classics White 18U softball team continued its strong summer by putting together a perfect 3-0 weekend at the Stampede Tournament, earning wins over Sentinels 18U, Stampede 18U and Force 18U after splitting a pair of games earlier in the week. 
Cozad entered the tournament after battling Broken Bow to a 6-6 tie and rolling to an 18-0 victory over Force on June 30. 

Reds Score 29 Runs Across Three Games

The Cozad Reds Senior Legion 18U baseball team opened a busy stretch with a convincing victory before falling in their next two games against North Platte and Hi-Line Bulls. 
Cozad rolled to a 9-1 win over Hi-Line Bulls on June 25, using a seven-run third inning to break the game open.
