The Kind of Community You’re Proud to Call Home
The community continues to rally around Benjamin “Benny” Ide and his family. Fundraising efforts have come in many forms.
The Cut Barn Salon and Lash Studio, with Sarah Wolf, Michelle Brodd, Gage Holbein and Angie Cover donated their time and talents for a free will donation haircut special.
By the end of the day, the stylists had provided well over 80 haircuts. Combined with a bake sale donated by the community, a raffle for a Turtlebox waterproof speaker donated by ZieSTRONG, and a generous contribution from the Lexington Lions Club, the event raised a total of $6,128 for the Ide family.
Zie Romero drew Ed Wuehler's ticket to win the Turtlebox speaker.
During the benefit, Sheri Giesbrecht, president of the Lexington Lions Club, presented a $1,000 donation for the family. The contribution included $500 from the Lexington Lions Club and $500 from the MD38-District L Pediatric Cancer Fund.
This community fundraiser is one example of the support that emerged for the family.
Meyer and Margaret Kinnan, kiddos of Sheena and Justin, turned sweet corn crop into another opportunity to give, offering a dozen ears for $8 while also accepting free will donations for the Ide family.
By the time their fundraiser came to an end, the Kinnans had picked and distributed over 145 dozen ears of sweet corn.
Meyer came up with the idea to support his friend and classmate Landry, Benny’s brother. Some of the classmates came together to hand pick more than 1,740 individual ears to help a family going through an unimaginable time.
Support could also be seen on wrists throughout Cozad as Mode Boutique ordered 1,200 “Benny Strong” bracelets, selling them for $3 each in support of the family. Those who pre-ordered bracelets are encouraged to pick them up at the store, and a limited number remain available for those who did not have an opportunity to pre-order. Stop by Mode today!
From haircuts, ears of corn, bracelets, baked goods, raffle tickets and donations, Cozad comes together, each and every time.
